The Division of City Schools initiated different contests in commemoration of Melchora Aquino’s 200th Birth Anniversary. The event was organized by English Department headed by its Supervisor, Dr. Milagros A. Quiñones and it was held at the Quezon City Science Interactive Center. This activity offers students an opportunity to be recognize and win cash prizes for their writing & verbal skills, artistry and public speaking. It was attended by the Chairperson of the Tandang Sora Task and Quezon City Vice Mayor Ma. Josefina G. Belmonte, Division of City Schools Superintendent Dr. Corazon C. Rubio, English Head Teachers, contestants and trainers. There were six different competitions which include Introducing Tandang Sora; Storytelling; Dance Interpretation; Oration; Tandang Sora Look-a-Like; and Open Letter to Tandang Sora. 

Noong Agosto 28, 2012, ang Dibisyon ng Paaralang Panlungsod at Lungsod Quezon ay naglungsad ng kumpetisyon na Sabayang Pagbigkas at Balagtasan para sa mga mag-aaral ng Mataas na Paaralan ng Lungsod Quezon. Ang patimpalak na ito ay bilang pagdaraos ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa at alay na rin kay Tandang Sora. Ang lahat ng distrito ay nagkaroon ng kani-kaniyang representante na magtatagisan ng galing sa nasabing petsa at ginanap sa Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Quezon.
