On September 5, 2016, District Director P/SSupt Guillermo Eleazar was invited into the 7th Regular Session of the QC City Council to discuss the situation and the projects of the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) in support of the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.
The District Director detailed their plans to make the Quezon City drug-free through the Double Barrel system. The system consists of operations of knocking on doors to persuade illegal drug users and pushers to voluntarily surrender themselves to the authorities. Since its launch, the QCPD counted 7,719 drug surrenderees.
QCPD also introduced QC Integrated Drug Abuse Profiling System (QC IDAPS) to establish the protocol for drug surrenderees. Through this system, records of the drug surrenderees are centralized into a single database for more accurate and efficient reporting.
The District Director proudly reported significant decrease in car napping and homicide cases as effects of decreasing illegal drug use in the city. Lastly, he encourages everyone to be vigilant and to report illegal activities to the police immediately. District Director Eleazar provided contact numbers the QC citizens could use to directly report illegal drug and crime-related activities.
