Quezon City celebrated “Pedrista”, San Pedro Bautista: Kalakbay ng mga Layko at Lingkod Bayan

The Santuario De San Pedro Bautista, in cooperation with the Quezon City Government have celebrated this year’s Pedrista Festival with various liturgical and socio–cultural activities.

This year’s theme, San Pedro Bautista: Kalakbay ng mga Layko at Lingkod Bayan” was in honor of the only saint who lived in Quezon City and the founder of the 2nd oldest Franciscan church in the Country, the Santuario de San Pedro Bautista, built in 1590.

One of the main highlights of the festival was the Paschal Triduum, a three-day novena masses at the QC Hall Main Lobby last February 5-7, 2014.  The image of San Pedro Bautista was also brought to the QC Hall compound, along with an exhibit of the Life and sacrifices of San Pedro Bautista.

Last February 6, 2014 at the Santuario de San Pedro Bautista, was the grand finals of Voices 2014: Awit Pagkilala kay San Pedro Bautista, a choral competition for Quezon City Schools and Community-based groups which aims to bring greater value and deeper adoration to the shared faith and beliefs through the language and sound of music.

It was followed by “AYAB”, a drama play on the Life of San Pedro Bautista by the Quezon City Polytechnic University last February 8, 2014 and a Fireworks displayed on the feast day, February 9, 2014.

Pedrista Festival is part of the activities set for the 75th Founding Anniversary of Quezon City, long term plans are also already underway to physically transform the parish into one of the premier destinations of the City.
