A delegation of 24 elected officials from Quezon City Council, Philippines, led by Vice Mayor Josefina Belmonte, visited the Maui County to commemorate the 45th anniversary and further strengthen the sister-city relationship with the county.

Maui County Council Vice-Chair Don S. Guzman, who was born in Cubao, Quezon City, presented the Quezon City officials a copy of the 1970 resolution that established the relationship. Resolution 70-58, introduced by former Maui County Council member Yoneto Yamaguchi, established the sister-city relationship on February 20, 1970.
