CALAMITY LOAN FOR GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES IN QUEZON CITY

The Quezon City Council is now authorizing government employees living in Quezon City who are affected during the onslaught of the Southwest Monsoon rainfall last August 6-10 to apply for calamity loan.

This measure was approved on the 5th Special Session last August 22. The 18th Quezon City Council thru its Presiding Officer, Vice Mayor Ma. Josefina G. Belmonte saw the urgency of the measure given the massive destruction to properties and even the loss of life after the heavy rainfall, which hinder the employees to return to normalcy.

Government employees can now apply for calamity loan with the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Home Development Mutual Fund (PAG-IBIG) and other credit access agencies.

As stated, all applicants should prepare pertinent documents such as: (1) Certification by the Agency Human Resource Management Officer stating the employment status together with the record of contributions for the past six (6) continuous months, (2) Certification from the Punong Barangay regarding the authenticity of the affected or flooded area, (3) Endorsement or case study to be issued by the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (QC-DRRMC) Action Officer and the Social Services Development Department affirming the eligibility of the loan application and (4) Duly filled out application and written undertaking authorizing the Agency Human Resource Management Officer.

The City Council is very optimistic that through this initiative, the urgent need of the struggling victims of the monsoon can be addressed.
